One City, Twenty Faces: Integrating Yunlin County's Township Communication Design
Howdy Creative produced public-sector communication materials for the Yunlin County Government (雲林縣政府), translating the diverse local stories of Yunlin's 20 townships into a clear, easy-to-read visual language that raised the visibility of local revitalization efforts.
Challenge
Public sector information is often complex and broad, which tends to create distance from the audience it's meant to reach. The challenge in this project was integrating wide-ranging content spanning Yunlin's 20 townships into one communication piece that reads clearly and effectively, without falling into a dry list of facts that fails to catch anyone's attention.
Goal
The core goal was to move beyond a conventional government pamphlet, using visual design to make the information approachable, so the material worked as more than a one-way announcement and instead sparked curiosity and resonance among local residents, raising the visibility of local revitalization while building a real bridge between the information and the public.
Approach
- Adopted 'systematic visual integration' as the core strategy, treating the communication materials for all 20 townships as one unified communication project.
- Turned each township's map outline into a 'story window,' giving readers a familiar shape to enter through as they got to know each place.
- Grouped all 20 townships into four regions with corresponding colors, presenting a series that stayed both independent and cohesive under one shared framework.
Outcome
Communication materials for Yunlin County's 20 townships were completed using one consistent regional color system and story-window framework, allowing local revitalization content that had previously stood alone township by township to be communicated to the public through a single, coherent visual language.
