For Beipu Township Office's annual Mid-Autumn Festival gala, Howdy Creative built a full festival visual system, from posters to print collateral, around a family of moonlight rabbits, replacing the usual formal government look with a warm, playful Hakka reunion mood.

Challenge

Local government festival events often default to a stiff, formulaic look with nothing memorable about it. Beipu Township Office wanted its Mid-Autumn gala to be more than a one-off gathering, aiming instead to build township recognition and draw both residents and visitors. That meant designing a visual identity that could break away from the typical government-event feel while staying true to the warmth of a Hakka reunion.

Goal

Build a festival visual identity around a distinctive character, the moonlight rabbit family, that carries the warm, welcoming mood of the event, then extend it across posters and print collateral. The visuals needed to blend Mid-Autumn tradition with Beipu's local Hakka culture, work for families of all ages, and travel well on social media.

Approach

  1. Used the moonlight rabbit family as the key visual character, replacing the typical formal government-event look with a warm, playful design that felt closer to local residents.
  2. Extended the key visual into a full set of print collateral, applied consistently across the venue decor, social posts, and every promotional channel.
  3. Tied the color palette and imagery to Mid-Autumn reunion themes and Hakka cultural elements, balancing festival mood with local character while keeping the visuals welcoming for families.

Outcome
