From Three Directions to a Street Sign: Domi Animal Hospital's Brand Identity System

Brand IdentityEnvironmental GraphicsPrint & Graphic Design

A veterinary clinic in Dali, Taichung needed one identity system that could carry from its street sign through the exam rooms to its business cards. We built the brand mark from the silhouette of a cat and dog nestled together, then extended it across signage, wayfinding, and print, so the clinic reads as both clinically professional and genuinely caring at every touchpoint.

Challenge

Domi Animal Hospital offers separate exam rooms for dogs and cats, a cat-friendly environment, and services spanning general medicine, feline medicine, and cardiology. With a new clinic opening soon, the brief went well beyond a logo: a horizontal storefront sign, an illuminated pole sign, business cards, medication bags, and identity elements for the exam rooms, waiting area, and reception counter all needed to be ready for opening day.

Goal

Build an identity that reads as both medically credible and emotionally warm. The mark needed to signal clinical expertise while keeping the bond between pets and their owners visible, and that same identity had to carry consistently across every physical touchpoint, from signage to exam room wayfinding to medication bags.

Approach

  1. Presented three creative directions, warm and protective, clinically pure, and brand-forward, for the client to compare, then finalized a 'D'-shaped mark built from the silhouettes of a nestled cat and dog, symbolizing Domi's bond with every animal patient.
  2. Built a Morandi-toned palette of forest green, breeze blue, and warm stone gray to distinguish the dog and cat exam rooms by color, balancing clear wayfinding with a calming clinical atmosphere.
  3. Extended the identity across the horizontal storefront sign, the illuminated pole sign, the reception feature wall, exam room door signage, waiting area wall art, business cards, and medication bags, then handed off finished files to the fabrication vendor for production and installation.

Outcome

Every touchpoint, from the logo to the street sign, exam room door signage, and waiting area wall, was completed and installed on schedule for opening day, giving pet owners a consistent brand experience from the corner light box sign all the way into the exam room.

FAQ

What should a pet clinic consider when building a brand identity?
Beyond visual appeal, the logo needs to communicate both clinical expertise and warmth. Howdy Creative typically presents several directions for the client to compare, then evaluates form, color, and how well the mark extends across future applications before the design is finalized.
Besides the sign, where else does a veterinary clinic's identity usually extend?
It commonly extends to illuminated signage, exam room door signage, waiting area walls, business cards, and medication bags. Howdy Creative uses a consistent color system to distinguish exam rooms by specialty, so pet owners feel the same brand identity from the street to the exam room.
